Juan Ortiz M.D., F.A.C.S., is a double board certified plastic surgeon, with over 17 years of surgical experience. As a diplomate of both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Ortiz has a deep understanding of and extensive training in the latest surgical procedures and techniques.
Dr. Ortiz holds the prestigious title: Diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Ortiz has dedicated nearly two decades of time and talent pursuing advanced training, ensuring optimum surgical solutions to his patients. Dr. Ortiz earned his B.S. from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Ortiz attended medical school at Ponce School of Medicine, where he was an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society student. During medical school, Dr. Ortiz developed a passion for reconstructive and plastic surgery, seeing firsthand how a well-trained plastic surgeon can make a positive impact on the lives of patients seeking cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Following medical school, Dr. Ortiz accepted a commission to serve as an officer in the U.S. Army. During his time at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, in El Paso, TX, Dr. Ortiz was a Categorical General Surgery intern and resident. After completing general surgery training, Dr. Ortiz was stationed at Fort Hood as a Staff General Surgeon. While at Fort Hood, Dr. Ortiz was deployed as the Chief of Surgery for the 14th Combat Support Hospital in Afghanistan. Providing acute surgical care in a combat environment gave Dr. Ortiz invaluable surgical training. During Dr. Ortiz’s 22 years of serving our nation's men and women in uniform and their families. Dr. Ortiz augmented his training with a Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Tennessee, focusing on reconstructive and plastic surgery procedures and techniques. Dr. Ortiz has contributed to the surgical training of future surgeons with his academic appointments at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD and at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC. As a scientist, Dr. Ortiz has published and presented numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and research in national and international journals and scientific forums. After a successful career in the U.S. Army, Dr. Ortiz calls the Triangle home. Dr. Ortiz continues his finely-tuned plastic surgery treatments addressing both cosmetic and reconstructive concerns.
